letters to the world: when i smile

Just because I listen, does not mean I believe
Just because I nod my head, does not mean I have accepted what you are feeding me
I will nod and smile and watch you tell another lie

Just because I do not scream and shout, doesn’t mean that I am happy with you
For you see “ladies never loose composure… we count from 1-10…and breath”

I am an open book…but maybe too open…
I am shut now.
Closed for stock taking, and the clearance sale will soon be on, for I need to get rid of some stuff that holds…or rather, has no value to me anymore

So dear, Just because I sit and smile sweetly,
do not take me for a fool,
For I am a woman…a strong and beautiful woman
I will shed my tears behind closed doors to the one who so carefully crafted me and cares for me

So dear, when I smile, sweetly,…worry, for maybe your time is up
This book is no longer on the shelf.
No more invitations to read it or understand it,
It needs to understand itself first.

See, you can not break me for I am made to withstand all weather
My body with its exquisite design can carry another life for 9 months
...and even love the little brat when it utters “I hate you mummy”

See, please understand my power
It comes form above and resides deep within, flowing and growing

Do you not comprehend, in your simple mind, that I am a pearl,
Precious, beautiful and strong?
Do you not see that I am a rock, not easily moved or moulded.
I do not carry my scars on the outside for all to see.
No, they are hidden within, for Him to fix.

Until you can match me and be the man God called you to be.
Step

If you can not catch up to me
I will look around to one that has His eye set on Gods heart.
The one who moves swiftly, knowing every moment counts.
For I do not have time to waste, it doesn’t belong to me...which means I would be wasting self.

Dilly dally all you wish,
I keep on marching
For standing still is moving backwards.

And I know I will meet him, as I march,
For he will be marching to the same tune…for now…
to a new tune I march
